Under the direction of Dr. Janellen Smith and Dr. Nathan Rojek, Grand Rounds is held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and Weinstein Library, located at 850 Health Sciences Rd, Irvine. Please see below for parking instructions.

The format for Dermatology Grand Rounds is:

  • Evidence-driven
  • Welcoming and inclusive to all attendees
  • Contentious and fun
  • Empowered by new media
  • Associated with 2 hours of CME credit from UC Irvine

The schedule for our evening Grand Rounds, which occur every 2nd Wednesday of the month is:

  • 5:30-6:15 p.m. — Patient Viewing, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, Dermatology (2nd Floor)
  • 6:15-7:30 p.m. — Patient Discussion, Weinstein Library

Note: Every other month, our evening Grand Rounds will occur virtually via Zoom.

The schedule for our morning Grand Rounds, which occur every 4th Wednesday of the month is:

  • 8-8:45 a.m. – Patient Viewing, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, Dermatology (2nd Floor)
  • 8:45 – 10:00 a.m. – Patient Discussion, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, Conference Room (3rd Floor)
  • 10:15-11:30 a.m. – Guest Lecturer, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, Conference Room (3rd Floor)

Grand Rounds are preceded by examination of scheduled patients from the community. Grand Rounds are open to UC Irvine faculty, residents, medical students and community dermatologists. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

Resident Weekly Conference

Resident weekly conferences are held each Friday morning at UC Irvine Medical Center or VA Conference Room. The conferences include resident presentations, faculty or outside speakers and/or journal clubs.

Professional Organizations

There are many dermatology professional organizations and associations which have meetings and conferences around the year, including the American Academy of Dermatology.
