Gerald D. Weinstein Foundation
The Department of Dermatology at the
University of
California,
Irvine is committed to excellence in education and research. As such, the department seeks the establishment of the Gerald Weinstein Endowment Fund. This endowment will honor our former Chair of Dermatology and the former Dean of the
School of
Medicine, Dr. Gerald Weinstein.
During Dr. Weinstein's tenure, the
University of
California's Dermatology program earned a growing reputation for excellence. He was instrumental in the creation of emerging programs such as the treatment of psoriasis and the therapeutic effects of various drugs and ultraviolet light. Gerry is committed to the education of our residents, sharing his vast knowledge and expertise. He helped design the
Gottschalk
Medical
Plaza which contributed to the university’s clinical operations. In addition, he has overseen the recruitment of numerous new faculty members and served as mentor to many students, residents and faculty.
Many university and community friends have indicated an interest in establishing a fund that would recognize Gerry Weinstein for his years of commitment and dedication to the department and to the school. Knowing their special relationship with Gerry, we wanted to make you aware of this fund and give you the opportunity to participate.
The fund will be used to host an annual Gerald Weinstein Lecture and in addition support the salary of our research fellowship program.
