Dr. Brandie Metz, a pediatric dermatologist, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering in 1996 from Northwestern University .  She earned her medical degree in 2000 from Northwestern University Medical School , where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was awarded the George Dennis Award for top performance of her class in medical school clerkships.  Dr. Metz completed an internship in Internal Medicine at University of California San Diego (UCSD), followed by a dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas , where she served as chief resident.  During her residency, Dr. Metz developed interests in pediatric dermatology and dermatologic surgery.  After her residency, Dr. Metz was a fellow in pediatric and adolescent dermatology at UCSD and Children’s Hospital San Diego, where she trained in skin diseases unique to children and honed her skills as a pediatric dermatologic surgeon.  Dr. Metz was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) and Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital San Diego until joining the faculty at UCI in March 2006.

Dr. Metz is board certified in Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.  She is also a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.  She has published many peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, including in “Treatment of Skin Disease: Comprehensive Therapeutic Strategies” and “Textbook of Neonatal Dermatology”, and has spoken at academic meetings nationally and internationally. 

Dr. Metz is an expert in the diagnosis and management of skin diseases in newborns, children and adolescents.  Her special clinical interests include acne, atopic dermatitis, epidermolysis bullosa, congenital nevi and other birthmarks, hemangiomas, and pediatric dermatologic surgery.  Dr. Metz is skilled in the surgical management of cutaneous lesions, including lasers, in children of all ages and performs surgery both under local and general anesthesia.

Dr. Metz sees pediatric patients at the Antoci Center , located at the UCI Medical Center in Orange.
